P0088Serious
Fuel Rail/System Pressure Too High
Measured fuel rail pressure climbed above the commanded target. The computer can't bleed pressure down as expected, usually a regulator, sensor, or control fault.
Take this seriously. It can trigger a power derate or lead to damage if you keep driving — get it diagnosed promptly.
Common symptoms
- Rough running or knock
- Power loss / derate
- Check-engine light
Common causes
- Stuck fuel pressure regulator / control valve
- Faulty fuel rail pressure sensor
- Wiring short to the regulator
- Restricted return line
How it's diagnosed & fixed
- Compare commanded vs. actual rail pressure on a scan tool
- Test the pressure regulator/relief valve operation
- Inspect the rail pressure sensor and wiring
