P2002Serious
Diesel Particulate Filter Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)
The DPF isn't trapping/processing soot within spec. Often a loaded or damaged filter, or a pressure sensor misreading — and frequently a symptom of an upstream soot problem.
Take this seriously. It can trigger a power derate or lead to damage if you keep driving — get it diagnosed promptly.
Common symptoms
- Reduced power / derate
- Frequent regens
- Exhaust-filter warning
- Poor economy
Common causes
- Loaded or cracked DPF
- DPF pressure sensor fault
- Failed/incomplete regens
- Upstream cause making excess soot (injector, EGR, boost leak)
How it's diagnosed & fixed
- Check DPF differential pressure and soot load
- Verify the pressure sensor
- Fix the soot source, then clean or replace the DPF
